Fireland: On Location in Tierra Del Fuego
To call the country of Chile big is an understatement. It’s ginormous. From north to south, it stretches for over 2,600 miles, encompassing 9 different climate systems. Options for exploration are endless, but if it’s isolation and discovery you seek, your destination lies far to the south in a region known as Tierra del Fuego, the Land of Fire.
We were happy to hook up our friends at GLP Films with travel gear for their recent trip to Tierra del Fuego. For 2 weeks they explored the rugged terrain of Argentina and Chile, and adventure ensued. Below is their story...
The GLP Films crew of 5 touched down in Ushuaia, a small frontier town (billed the most southerly city in the world) on the border of Argentina and Chile, just after 4pm on a crisp, clear autumn day. We had been sent by our partners to document the country’s expanding offerings of adventure travel opportunities. Over the next 2 weeks we would set sail on a luxury expedition vessel, herd flocks of sheep on a historic estancia, and trek portions of Tierra del Fuego’s rugged interior.
