The adventure of vacation travel is to see how "light" and practical we can pack. In May and June my wife and I went to Europe for a month of independent train travel. I purchased your In-Flight Companion, which paired nicely with my 15-inch Pack-It Folders (plus some other Eagle Creek organizers to hold toiletries and other items.) The In-flight Companion was my sole piece of luggage for the tour and I did not borrow space in my wife's luggage. Light shirts and slacks fit easily in the Pack-It envelope. Socks and underwear went in one of your mesh packing "cubes" and so on. I had room in the end pockets of the carry on for a digital camera, a sweater and a hooded rain jacket. I still had plenty of room inside for medications (I take a few at my age.) That left the large front zipper pocket with its plethora of organizers for a journal, pen, itinerary...and I could have packed more items.
Check-in personnel were impressed that we could travel for so long with so little luggage. I was impressed that I didn't have any argument about carrying the In-Flight Companion on-board, either on regional or on international flights. We also saved time by not having to reclaim baggage.
The In-flight Companion is an impressive piece for its quality of construction and for its wonderfully tactile materials (hand-grip areas, hook-and-loop closures and its ergonomic and well-padded carrying strap. Its compact dimensions worked very well for train travel, for storage overhead on airplanes and for bustling through terminals.
The final test: my wife now wants one of her own! We have a wide range of luggage options to choose from for touring: Rick Steves, Orvis, Samsonite but we will both take the In-flight Companion on our next 30-day trip to Europe.

3 years ago I took this bag as my on-board,personal use,
camera, everything bag to China;with my 44 kilo thinnest
luggage. Worked like a charm. Made some redistribution of items once in China, but always had it with me. Could leave on bus, take camera, book out... same with various airlines!

After researching carry-ons I purchased this one and the 20-inch upright both in amber because of the capacity and look. Wow! I love this set! I packed for a three week trip which included a one week cruise all in these two pieces of luggage. And still came home with souvenir t-shirts! They still look perfect after several trips. I especially like all the compartments. It saves using the packing bags. Check out the capacity and see that a LOT will fit into a small space. Remember there are only two kinds of luggage- carry-on & LOST.
