I just returned from a 7-week trip using the Eagle Creek Thrive 90L. Besides moving in and out of eight airports, numerous train and bus stations, plus cabs, shuttle, ferry and an urban metro system, I walked about 150 miles -- from Porto, Portugal, to Santiago de Compostela, Spain, on the Caminho Portuguese, an historic pilgrim trail. I carry a lot of photography gear and the bag was fairly heavily loaded -- around 45 lbs between the main bag and the daypack.
It worked well. Everything was up to the quality I have come to expect from Eagle Creek -- no rips, no broken zippers. For air travel I was able to jam most of my photography gear and a few other essentials into the daypack for my carry-on. The main pack was checked in and survived whatever torture the airlines subjected it to (British Airways did lose it for a while on my return trip, but it turned up, just a bit late).
For the trekking, being able to shift some of the weight to the daypack and wear it in front helped balance the load. And it put my essential photography gear at hand. That would likely be very uncomfortable in extreme heat, but heat was not a problem in April/May in northern Portugal and Galicia.

I have last year's model, but this is a perfect bag for anyone traveling abroad. There's tons of storage, storage for shoes to keep your other cloths cleans & dry, hiding shoulder and waist straps (perfect for checking your bag on an airline), a mesh pouch on the inside which was great for holding my loose stuff, and best of all, a detachable back pack. The back pack made it easy to check into my hotel and then take just the small bag with me. So far I've taken it to Greece, Italy, France, England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. It's going with me this year to Germany, Czech, Hungary, and Russia. I can't wait. Great product!!!

I have been wanting a travel pack for years but never saw one that really caught my eye. When I saw last years version of this pack I knew it was the pack for me. I got the black and tree frog green bag. When I recieved it in the mail it was even cooler then expected. Being a Warranty professional in a different industry. I really love the lifetime warranty. I would never want any other bag brand because mine is so awesome! Also excellent quality!
